David Bada's Granola: My perfect start to the day

Breakfast

Hey guys, as an athlete, it’s extremely improtant to eat a balanced diet in order to achieve your goals – whether in training or in everyday life. For me, a breakfast that is not only healthy but also really tasty is the key to a productive day. That’s why i want to share one of my favorite recipes with you today that i’ve been making myself for a few years now: my homemade granola!

This granola is the perfect 10/10 breakfast for me. It's quick to make, tastes incredibly good and gives me the energy I need for the day - whether I'm training or out and about with the family.

The Recipe:

300g rolled oats (I like to mix coarse and fine)
100g coconut oil
125g honey
70-100g nuts (depending on taste - I love almonds and cashews)
cinnamon
A pinch of salt
A few drops of vanilla extract

Preparation:

Heat the oil and honey: Make sure to heat the coconut oil and honey only slightly so that they are liquid, but do not boil. This preserves the nutrients.

Mix the dry ingredients: Place the rolled oats, nuts, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract in a bowl and mix everything well.

Mix everything together: Pour the liquid mixture of honey and coconut oil over the oats and mix until everything is evenly coated.

Off to the oven: Spread the mixture on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake at 160°C for 10 minutes. Then mix once and bake for another 6-8 minutes.

Leave to cool: Leave the granola to cool completely before storing it in a jar or tin. This will keep it nice and crunchy.

And that's it - your homemade granola is ready! The great thing about it is that you have a delicious and nutritious breakfast that will easily last you a week. I prefer to eat it with yoghurt, fresh fruit or simply with milk. Not only is it filling, but it also gives me the energy boost I need for my training sessions.

As an NFL player, I pay special attention to giving my body the nutrients it needs. This granola provides a perfect blend of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and natural sweeteners. It helps me keep my energy up throughout the day without feeling tired or sluggish.
Try it for yourself and let me know how you like it! I can't wait to hear what you think. And if you try it, please tag me on Instagram so I can see your version.
